Presale inspections can be beneficial for both the buyer and the seller when it comes to buying a home. Presale inspections allow for disclosure of defects in the home, and can give everyone involved a more accurate idea of how much the home is really worth. Inman News reports on the importance of presale inspections:
The more a buyer knows about the condition of a property before an offer is made, the better. If minimal information is available when the purchase contract is negotiated, and big surprises revealed are in the buyer’s inspection reports, the transaction could collapse. In this case, the seller has to start over. And, the reports that were generated by the first buyers will probably need to be disclosed to future buyers.
Presale inspections can protect you as a buyer from finding out about problems after you are done buying a home. Sellers also benefit, as they prevent unpleasant surprises when the buyer does get an inspection (for such things as homeowner’s insurance). In some cases, what is found out during a buyer inspection can scuttle the sale.
