    Green Mortgages

Earlier this month, I wrote a post on the trend of green building that is becoming more popular across the country. Another mortgage trend that is up and coming includes what is known as green mortgages.

Green mortgages are home loan products that reward you for choosing energy-efficient features for your home. You can get a reduction in closing fees and costs if you buy a home that has a high energy rating. Or, if you want to upgrade your home, you can get a second mortgage with preferential fees.

Citigroup, Bank of America and JP Morgan Chase are some of the major companies offering these incentives. But, you might be able to check with a local home loan provider to see what sort of products and programs they offer.
