Selling Your Own Home? Things to Consider

    88242154_3nkmss
Many people try selling their own homes in order to save money on commissions. However, in some cases you may not be getting the best deal. Additionally, some of the Web sites that help you sell your own home for a flat fee (rather than a commission) can actually mean less money in your pocket if you sell your home for less than you could get with a real estate agent or broker.

Aryeh Katz, writing on Investopedia, offers some things to consider before you decide on selling your own home:

    1. Exposure: A real estate agent or broker can have a wider reach.

    2. Market information: Up-to-the-minute information on the market — without having to go look for it.

    3. Negotiating ability

    4. Legal issues and help

    5. The time you spend: Selling your home is a time-consuming proposition. You may have other things you want to do (earn money, spend time with family).

Before you decide on selling your own home, it is a good idea to consider all the costs, and not just the commission paid.
