It appears that mortgage lenders are starting to feel the holiday spirit. Following a move by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to suspend foreclosures, other mortgage lenders are jumping on board.
It’s all about the P.R. With the holiday season upon, it seems rather heartless to continue with the foreclosures and the evictions. So Fannie and Freddie announced that they were halting these types of activities until January, when the holiday season ends.
Following suit, many mortgage lenders are showing that they too feel the pain of foreclosures (although their pain is of a different sort). States are also considering issues orders for moratoriums on foreclosures. This is designed to help ease stress at the holiday season. And, it will presumably help ease the crunch on resources if more people are evicted and have to avail themselves of shelters and other facilities and programs.
