    Barack Obama Encourages Refinancing

Today, President Barack Obama pointed out that many Americans are not taking advantage of refinancing opportunities available. Indeed, some of the programs that President Obama have introduced related to refinancing and loan modification are available even to those who aren’t in mortgage trouble. CNN Money reports on what Obama said this morning:

“The main message that we want to send today is, there are 7 to 9 million people across the country who right now could be taking advantage of lower mortgage rates,” he told reporters during a meeting with advisers and a group of people who had taken advantage of the lower rates.

“We estimate that the average family can get anywhere from $1,600 to $2,000 a year in savings by taking advantage of these various mortgage programs that have been put in place.”

You can learn more about whether you qualify for refinancing or loan modification by going to the Making Home Affordable site put together by the government. It will also contain upcoming information about expanded programs that Obama plans to introduce in the near future.
